  • Question of the Day

White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers is stepping down from his position as National Economic Council Director.  The whys of it aren’t completely clear.  Some say he had to hurry back to Harvard before he exceeded his leave of absence and lost his tenure.  Others say he had expected to be named Treasury Secretary or Federal Reserve Chairman and that never happened. Regardless, Summers is saying farewell to the White House and someone needs to take his place.

A couple of names are floating around.

    • Meg Whitman  –  Whitman is currently spending big bucks running as a Republican for California’s governor’s seat, but before that she served as eBay’s CEO.
    • Carly Fiorina  –Like Whitman, she’s running for office in California.  This Republican wants to be Senator.  Prior to her political aspirations, she served as Chairman & CEO of Hewlett Packard.
    • Laura Tyson  –  Tyson already knows the job.  She was the NEC director under President Clinton.  Currently she works with President Obama as part of the Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
    • Anne Mulcahy  –  Mulachy serves on President Obama’s Economic Advisory Board.  Before that she was CEO of Xerox Corp.

Who do you think should take over as President Obama’s economic right-hand (wo)man?  Why?  Leave your answers in the comments section or e-mail us at happeningnow@foxnews.com

Who cares who Obama puts in any position? They will all be of the same RED cloth. Get out the Vote and take our country back.

How about putting Steve Forbes in there! It is probably time to put in a Flat Tax man in there. We would certainly do better with a flat tax.

Why does the usual bleat for Tort Reform, usually trotted out as a rallying cry at election time, then die on the vine from lack of oxygen ? Do you think DIS-INGENIOUS ??? Do you think maybe it's because once the politicians are de-elected, (having done their one-term and securing their outrageous pension that they voted themselves) they don't want to have to answer the question from their bretheren ...WHY ON EARTH DID YOU BRING UP TORT REFORM !!! DID YOU FORGET OUR CASH COW ?? Question: What percentage of politicians are attorneys, or ex-attorneys as in the case of Barak and Michelle Obama ...and why do you suppose that percentage is so high ??

Why would Carly F. or Meg W. even consider working for BHO? He clearly has an agenda (like getting them out of a favorable race). They are too intelligent...they wouldn't fit in.

I would be very disappointed if Meg Whitman or Carly Fiorina fell for that old trick. Pulling one of them out of their race would be the only reason Obama would pick one of those two women.

i would say neither of the republicans currently running for office in california. it is too important to have those women take the offices currently held by the liberals. that is a political ploy to change the dynamics of the california elections.

Franken and his boys want to retro the estate tax and increase it to 65%. How is the salary scandal in Bell, CA ("They used the tax dollars collected from the hardworking citizens of Bell as their own piggy bank, which they then looted at will"), any different than what is happening in the Federal government, Senate and Congress. Is this the new age of serfdom?
