  • HOOPS FOR HEROES

hoops for heroes 2A guy and his basketball start the game of the century.  1 million free throws for the troops.  “How so,” you ask?

David Cummings of Epsom, NH has no direct attachment to the military.  He’s not a veteran.  He never ever served.  But he felt like he owed something to our troops for the service they provide that keep him & his family safe.

Cummings decided to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes fund, which is helping to build a $60 million medical complex next to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

His goal:  $1 million.  And 1 million free throws.hoops for heroes 3

He started on Veteran’s Day 2009 and is already up to more than 77,000.  Today on “Happening Now” he told us he’s made over 1,900 free throws on his best day.  But he’s still got a ways to go.
