  • USPS Cancels Santa's Letters

If you're writing letters to the jolly man at the North Pole this holiday season you likely won't get a response from Santa Claus or his helpers.  The U.S. Postal Service is dropping a popular natinal program begun in 1954 in the small Alaska town of the North Pole.  Volunteers have been opening and responding to thousands of letters addressed to Santa each year.  Replies come with North Pole postmarks.  But, last year, a postal worker in Maryland recognized an Operation Santa volunteer there as a registered sex offender. The postal worker interceded before the individual could answer a child's letter, but the Postal Service viewed the episode as a big enough scare to tighten rules in such programs nationwide.

well, here is a site that I came across so the post office doesn't have to worry: a-letter-from-santa.com

So this is what I just found from the actual website used to order the letters: Statement regarding North Pole postmark & Santa Letters Recently you may have seen some reports in the media regarding the North Pole postmark; unfortunately, there were inaccuracies in many of these reports. We can assure you that our Letters from Santa are still prepared in North Pole, Alaska and picked up and processed by the North Pole Post Office. All of our Letters from Santa will still receive the North Pole postmark and will be mailed from Santa as they have been for more than 50 years. Additionally, you may have read that letters children write to Santa will no longer be delivered to North Pole. While, for the time being, this is true for letters that are addressed simply to Santa, North Pole, this WILL NOT effect letters written to Santa at our mailing address: Santa Claus House 101 St. Nicholas Drive North Pole, AK 99705 We receive thousands of letters to Santa every year and Santa reads every one. Many are displayed on our letter walls throughout our store or on our website www.KidsSantaLetters.com. Please let us know if we can help you with anything else or answer any additional questions. Thank you and Merry Christmas, Paul Brown Operations Manager Santa Claus House

So what happens when we paid for a letter to be mailed to our daughter by Santa? Not only is she going to miss out on this exciting moment as a child but are we going to get refunded?

SILVIU VLAD

All this gets me back in time when in Romania, the Dictator Ceausescu ordered to be eliminated compltely the Santa and Mrs. Claus names and be replaced with Comrade Ceausescu and his wife Elena. This is the direction we drive our life now?
